What is Sarcoma?

Sarcomas are rare cancers that originate from the connective tissues of the body. They can arise from muscle, fat, bone, fibrous tissue, blood vessels and other connective tissues and can originate from almost anywhere in the human body. There are actually over 60 types of soft tissue sarcomas and over 20 types of bony sarcomas. Because of the rarity of these cancers, your case should be reviewed by an expert sarcoma pathologist. AT UCLA, our expert pathology team can help to identify the type of sarcoma that you have to optimize treatment planning. At UCLA, our team manages patients with all types of sarcomas.
