Hemonc-Transportation

A number of UCLA Health patients undergoing cancer care can face transportation challenges. In order to ensure that they receive the care they need when they need it, the UCLA Health Division of Hematology/Oncology has created a Patient Transportation Support Program. UCLA Health provides rides at no charge for patients who are in sudden need of transportation. Examples would be a sibling who can no longer provide a ride or formal programs, such as Access, becoming delayed well past the time of the cancer clinic closing. The latter means that in addition to the patient having a protracted day after care, the clinic nurses and staff would need to stay longer as well. Among its many benefits, this program reduces stress for patients during what is already a challenging time.
