Dr. Liu is interested in diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cancer epidemiological study, particularly the cancer types that are related to air pollution and oil/gas production/leaking. He has participated in Greater Los Angeles area air pollution studies of people's lung function back in the 90th and recently he has been serving as the Pl/mPI of two large environmental health studies investigating the impact of air pollution from Baldwin Hills oil production facilities, the largest urban oil production site in the US, and the Aliso Canyon gas blowout disaster, the largest nature gas blow out in the US history, on residents' health, particularly the impact on incident of cancer. Dr. Liu is also involved in research of  development of cutting-edge early diagnosis of cancers through synthetic sensors, and others.
