Scientific Interests

Dr. Makker's interests focus on pathology informatics, digital pathology, and computational approaches to improve cancer diagnosis, reporting, and care. He is particularly interested in transforming unstructured pathology data into more usable and actionable information for clinical care, quality improvement, and research. This includes applying informatics methods such as natural language processing to better extract, organize, and interpret pathology data, improving cancer testing workflows and genomic reporting, and leveraging digital pathology and artificial intelligence to support cancer diagnosis and more data-driven pathology practice. His broader goal is to help build the infrastructure for more integrated, precise, and collaborative cancer care across specialties.
