What You Should Know About Brain Tumors

Brain Tumors and Brain Cancer Treatment at UCLA

For patients with CNS (central nervous system) tumors consisting of brain and/or spine tumors, UCLA applies a multidisciplinary approach to provide patients with the optimal course of treatment. The departments of Radiation Oncology, Neuro-oncology and Neurosurgery work closely together to provide a team approach to the management of each patient's tumor.

We treat a variety of both malignant and benign tumors in adult and pediatric populations as well as functional disorders with the use of radiation therapy. We have various radiation treatment modalities including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic radiotherapy, tomotherapy, RapidArc, IMRT and 3-D conformal radiation therapy. We typically use MRI fusion for our treatment planning. Our goal is to minimize side effects while maximizing tumor control.
