Arash Naeim
Arash Naeim, MD, PhD, is a health professional whose career has spanned a combination of health services, informatics, health policy and quality of care issues. He currently serves as Professor of Medicine in the divisions of Hematology-Oncology and Geriatric Medicine at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine as well as a Professor of Bioengineering at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Dr. Naeim serves as a Senior Leader and Associate Director for Informatics for the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is board certified in clinical informatics.
He also holds key leadership roles as Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Research for UCLA Health and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research. He is an MPI and an a Co-Director of the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute as well as an Associate Director for the Institute of Precision Health, the Garrick Institute for Risk Sciences, and the UCLA Center for AI & SMART Health.
Dr. Naeim earned his BS in Biochemistry and MD in Medicine at the University of California and received a PhD in Public Policy from the RAND Corporation. His primary research focus is on risk-based cancer screening, aging and cancer, and the interface of medicine and technology. He has been the Site PI for the Athena Breast Health Network, PCORI WISDOM Study, and NCI Wisdom Study. He has been involved in a number of digital biomarker studies, conversational AI projects, and VR/AR studies.
Dr. Naeim has received numerous grants and honors for his research, including an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator Award, an NIH Mentored Research Award, R01 grant from the AHRQ, PO1 from NCI, and UM1 grant from NCATS. He is the Neria and Manizheh Yomtoubian Endowed Chair in Cancer and Risk Sciences.
