Dr. Erin Chamberlain is a hematologist and medical oncologist who practices in San Luis Obispo. She treats patients with all types of cancer and hematologic conditions and is board certified in both hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Chamberlain received her medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University, where she also completed her internal medicine residency and was recognized with a Humanitarian Award for her compassionate care of patients. She subsequently completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Claremont McKenna College, where she played Division III soccer and graduated cum laude in Molecular Biology.
Dr. Chamberlain previously served the greater Santa Maria community as a hematologist oncologist before joining UCLA Health in 2020. Her research has largely focused on precision oncology, which involves tailoring cancer treatment for each person's unique disease by using information about their genes, lifestyle factors, and the molecular characteristics of their disease with the hope of avoiding unnecessary treatment side effects. She is excited to continue researching and advancing our knowledge of a tumor's unique biology as a weapon against it.
Dr. Chamberlain is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband. She loves to surf, hike, bike, and have some downtime with a good book and a steaming mug of coffee.
