Dr. Donna L. Washington, MD, MPH, FACP is Chief, Section of General Internal Medicine at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and a Professor of Medicine in the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Washington completed her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine, primary care Internal Medicine residency at UCSF-San Francisco General Hospital, health services research-focused fellowship in the UCLA Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, and MPH in Epidemiology at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Washington is a physician scientist whose research focuses on population health and investigates multi-level factors influencing health and health care access, quality, and outcomes of U.S. Veterans. She Co-Directs the Population Health Research Impact Area for the VA HSR Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy (CSHIIP). Her work has been recognized through receipt of the Under Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research and by election into the National Academy of Medicine.
