UCLA Health once again earns top honors for excellence in patient care

Recognition reflects unwavering commitment of physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to innovation and exceptional care.

For the 37th consecutive year, UCLA Health earned a spot on the Best Hospitals  Honor Roll in the annual assessment of excellence in hospital-based patient care released on Aug. 3, 2026, by U.S. News & World Report.

The national honor roll distinction this year was awarded to only 20 hospitals or health systems among nearly 4,500 evaluated across 14 medical specialties and 23 procedures and conditions.

UCLA Health once again placed #1 in both California and Los Angeles* in the annual evaluation. 

Twelve UCLA Health specialties were nationally ranked, including five in the top 10.

In addition, UCLA Health received the highest rating in 18 common procedures and conditions. Among them were various cancers, heart conditions, stroke and hip fracture.

The U.S. News & World Report analysis considers objective measures such as clinical outcomes, preventable complications and level of nursing care. Detailed methodologies for the medical specialties rankings and the procedures and conditions ratings  are available on the publication’s website.
