What You Need to Know About Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is your one chance each year to switch to a better insurance plan
Not happy with your current health insurance plan? You’re in luck: Open Enrollment is here! What’s Open Enrollment? It’s the one time each year when you can update your health care coverage to increase your benefits or lower your premiums.
It’s also the best time to review your current insurance plan to make sure your UCLA Health physicians are covered.
But act fast! Otherwise, you might miss out on this opportunity.
What’s the deadline?
To secure better care and peace of mind in the new year, most people will have to act within the national Open Enrollment period: November 1 – December 15, 2020. Covered California Open Enrollment runs November 1 – January 31, 2021, and Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 – December 7, 2020.
If you don’t enroll in or update your plan by the deadline, you won’t be able to make a switch unless you go through what’s known as a “qualifying event,” such as switching jobs or having a baby.
