If it's not life-threatening and your primary care office is closed, immediate care is your best option for world-class health care and outstanding customer service, billed at the cost of a regular doctor’s visit.
Services available at Immediate Care
Immediate care is not a substitute for seeing your primary care physician (PCP). Always check to see if your primary care office has an appointment available before using Immediate Care. You can schedule a visit with your primary care physician through myUCLAhealth or check their availability and schedule an appointment by calling your primary care office. If your primary care physician is not available, a member of their team can help.
Note: There may be times when the care you need falls outside the realm of services offered at Immediate Care or our patient volume reaches capacity. In these instances, we will direct you where to go to get the care you need.
The following list describes examples of what is available and not available through Immediate Care:
- Acute illness evaluation (e.g., colds, fevers, flu and flu-like symptoms, ear infections, urinary tract infections, etc.)
- Acute pain or injury evaluation (e.g., sprains, strains, cuts, etc.)
- Immunizations and travel health
- IV hydration and fluids
- On-site testing (e.g., rapid strep, urine dip, urine pregnancy, rapid flu, sexually transmitted infections)
- X-rays and imaging referrals
What’s not available:
- Casting and splinting
- Chronic disease management (e.g., cholesterol management, diabetes management, etc.)
- Chronic pain management
- Preventive exams (physicals)
- Pre-operative exams (surgery clearance)
- Refills of controlled substances
If you need help managing symptoms from a chronic condition such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease or others, schedule an appointment with your PCP.

You have three options for accessing UCLA Health Immediate Care:
- Walk-in to one of our 12 locations (no appointment required)
- Join an Immediate Care video visit on your computer, tablet or smartphone
- Save your spot before visiting an Immediate Care location

Immediate Care video visit
Immediate Care Video Visits are an extension of walk-in immediate care for current UCLA Health patients. You don’t need an appointment. Simply log in to myUCLAhealth and pick an available time that works for you. At the scheduled time, you’ll meet with a physician through a secure video call. Immediate Care Video Visits are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 8 pm.
Once you’re connected, a physician will:
- Take the time to discuss your symptoms
- Decide on a treatment plan
- Answer any questions you may have
- Arrange follow-up visits if you need them
This option is ideal when you have minor medical concerns such as a rash, flu symptoms or signs of a respiratory infection.
Before you start your video visit, you will be notified what your copay is so that you can pay before joining the call. Insurance copays for virtual care vary.
Save My Spot
Save My Spot helps you spend less time in the waiting room and gets you home faster. Simply select your Immediate Care location and choose any available opening to let us know your planned arrival time. Just double-check with your insurance that you’re covered before you arrive.
When to go to the Emergency Department
If you have a serious condition including stroke, heart attack, severe bleeding, head injury or other major trauma, call 911. Do not take a chance with anything life-threatening.
What to bring
Please have your medical information readily available, including a list of medications that you are currently taking. This information will help the doctor evaluate your health status. Please be sure to bring your insurance card and the name of your primary care physician, as well as photo identification such as a valid driver's license or California ID.
Fees, billing and insurance
Our immediate care centers accept Medicare and many insurance plans. Any required co-payments and/or deductibles will be collected at the time of service.
- For patients with HMO insurance plans, please check with your health plan, primary care physician, or assigned medical group to see if your visit is covered.
- If UCLA Medical Group is your assigned HMO medical group, your visit will be covered.
- For patients who do not have insurance or do not have insurance plans contracted with UCLA, payment is expected by cash, check or credit card at the time of service.
