Celebrating National Physical Fitness Month May is National Physical Fitness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits of active lifestyles. During this month, communities across the country are encouraged to participate in activities that foster health and wellness.

National Kids Fitness Day – May 4th A key highlight of this month is National Kids Fitness Day on May 4th. This day focuses specifically on encouraging children to engage in physical activity. It's a wonderful opportunity for kids to explore different types of exercise and learn healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind: Committed to Youth Wellness UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind (SBSM), we are passionate about improving the physical fitness and wellness of youth, at more than 150 Los Angeles-area middle schools and high schools. Our program reaches nearly 200,000 students annually in Los Angeles, providing them with state-of-the-art fitness centers, innovative curriculums, and teacher professional development training.

This May, in support and celebration of National Physical Fitness month and National Kid Fitness Day, SBSM has partnered with local studios for special fundraising boxing and cycle classes to benefit local middle schools and high schools.  Proceeds will be used to make improvements to exercise equipment as well as fund teacher professional development training of our curricula.  We invite you to join us at one or more of the classes below.

We suggest a donation of $35 for the class, but we appreciate anything amount you can give.

Please arrive at the studio 30 minutes before class so we can get you set up with gloves and wraps.  If you have your own gloves and wraps, that’s cool! Otherwise, the studio will provide. The instructor will review and demonstrate the basic 6 punches and show you where your starting station is located. Minimum age participation - 13 yrs. old with parent or guardian.

Voltage Indoor Cycling

Experience an exhilarating full-body workout as you pedal to the beat in our indoor cycling classes, where high-energy music and motivating instructors guide you through a calorie-burning journey to fitness.

We suggest a donation of $35 for the class, but we appreciate anything amount you can give.

The studio recommends participants to arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in before the start of the class. Wear sneakers or spin shoes.  Bring water and towel (you will sweat!).  No age limit.  The child should be able to sit comfortably with feet on the pedal and hold the handlebar with ease.

Motivate Cycle

We like to sync the rhythm of the pedal with music for a fun, energetic, fully body workout. It’s about movement, investing in your well-being and having a great time while doing it!

We recommend participants arriving 10-15 minutes early to get checked in before the start of class.  Shoe rentals are $3 (not required. If participants have their own cycle shoes, they can use them. Our bikes are SPD and LOOK compatible). Minimum age for participation- 15 with parent or guardian
