Associate Professor In Residence with secondary appointment in Pediatric Neurology. Dr. Giza conducts research investigating the physiological and molecular response of the developing brain to traumatic injury. His current laboratory interests include neuroplasticity, recovery from injury, sport-related concussions, post-traumatic epilepsy and brain development. He runs the Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) clinic at UCLA that provides neurological follow-up of head-injured children with all severities of TBI. He also established the UCLA BrainSPORT program, which partners with local schools to provide prevention, outreach, research and treatment for sports concussions. His team's clinical research is related to post-traumatic epilepsy, sequelae of concussion and recovery of function.
