Basak J. Kanlilar-Ruiz, NP

Basak earned her ADN from Long Beach City College in 2004. While working in an emergency department, she pursued both her BSN (2010) and MSN (2017) degrees at UCLA. She graduated with honors and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. During her 18 years in the emergency department, she held a charge nurse position and a student-nurse preceptorship assignment to offer guidance and knowledge to nursing students. Basak has joined UCLA interventional endoscopy, where she will be a member of the team offering a variety of treatments to patients with GI disorders, including resection of colon polyps, ERCP for stone removal/stent placement to treat biliary stones/strictures, TIF procedures for GERD, Botox or POEM to treat achalasia, GPOEM for gastroparesis and endoscopic ablation for Barrett’s esophagus.
