About

Dr. Daniel Greenwald is a medical oncologist and hematologist who practices in Santa Barbara. He treats patients with all types of cancer, including hematologic malignancies, and is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. He provides compassionate, empathetic cancer care to the whole patient, and involves their family and caregivers in clinical discussions.

Throughout each patient's cancer treatment, Dr. Greenwald works with a multidisciplinary team that includes their primary care physician, other specialists, and local resources for supportive care. He utilizes molecular/genomic sequencing of tumor tissue to help identify treatments that may work best for each individual patient. He has a passion for bringing innovative clinical trials and research to the community.

Dr. Greenwald received his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He also completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency, and hematology & oncology fellowship at Stanford University.

Dr. Greenwald has worked as a medical oncologist and hematologist in Santa Barbara since 2007. Prior to joining UCLA Health, he was Director of Clinical Research at the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center. He is excited to bring the world-class reputation and research capabilities of UCLA to Santa Barbara area patients. He collaborates with basic science laboratories at UC Santa Barbara, is Director of the Tumor Board at Cottage Hospital, and is Director of Oncology Education for the internal medicine residency program at Cottage Hospital. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, serves on the Community Leadership Council for the Santa Barbara Chapter of the American Cancer Society and served on the board of directors of the Santa Barbara Visiting Nurses and Hospice from 2010 to 2019. Dr. Greenwald has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Alumni of the Stanford University School of Medicine since 2013.

When he's not working, Dr. Greenwald enjoys woodworking, gardening, cooking, and his family.
