About

Dr. Philipson is a general and interventional cardiologist who primarily practices in the South Bay of Los Angeles. He is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine. Dr. Philipson’s goal is to provide individualized, compassionate, and state of the art patient care emphasizing strong communication and shared decision making.

 

Dr. Philipson specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of coronary artery disease including diagnostic angiography; intravascular imaging; percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with angioplasty and stent placement; complex plaque modification techniques utilizing all forms of atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy; in addition to the use of percutaneous hemodynamic support devices. Dr. Philipson also has expertise in the evaluation and management of all aspects of cardiovascular diseases and preventive cardiology including hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, statin intolerance, palpitations, arrhythmia, heart failure and cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, pericardial disease and congenital heart disease.

 

Dr. Philipson was born and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated with honors from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Dr. Philipson returned home to Los Angeles to complete his residency in internal medicine followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and advanced fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Philipson lives in Redondo Beach with his wife and son. In his spare time, he enjoys running, cycling, surfing, and exploring all the South Bay has to offer with his family.
