About

Dr. Juan José Andino is a Board-Certified and Fellowship-Trained Urologist who specializes in male sexual health, infertility, and complex urologic surgery. He completed advanced fellowship training in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at UCLA, following extensive experience in prosthetic and microsurgery at the University of Michigan. As of January 2026, Dr. Andino is serving as Associate Residency Program Director.

His surgical practice focuses on sexual medicine and prosthetic surgery as well as male infertility and microsurgery. In the sexual medicine and andrology realm, he sees manages advanced erectile dysfunction (ED) when pills are not working, priapism and the effects prolonged erections more than 4 hours, peyronie’s disease/penile curvature, and male stress incontinence after prostate/pelvic surgery. He offers both first-time and revision penile implants—including inflatable and malleable devices from Boston Scientific and Coloplast. He is passionate about prostate cancer survivorship and manages post-prostatectomy stress incontinence (leakage of urine with activity), including male sling and artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) placement to restore urinary control and improve quality of life; as well as simultaneous placement of a sling (mini Jupette technique) at the time of penile implants for patients with bothersome climacturia, a condition with loss of urine during intimacy and orgasm.

Dr. Andino has specialized training in interventions not routinely offered by all urologists, including:

  • Inpatient Penoscrotal decompression or penile implant placement during prolonged priapism

  • Complex penile prosthesis placement after priapism or penile/pelvic trauma

  • Salvage implants, where an infected penile implant is removed, the area is treated, and a new implant is placed during the same hospitalization to preserve penile length and sexual function.

  • Surgical correction of penile curvature due to Peyronie’s disease or congenital curvature (e.g., plication, incision and grafting, penile implant placement when ED is also present)

  • Testicular prosthesis placement after testicle removal due to cancer or trauma

  • Office-based therapies, such as Xiaflex® injections for Peyronie’s and penile Doppler ultrasound to guide surgical planning in men with complex ED, Peyronie’s, or past priapism

He is also deeply committed to helping couples facing male infertility, including men with azoospermia (no sperm in the ejaculate) due to prior vasectomy, genetic conditions, such as Klinefelter syndrome or Cystic Fibrosis, and cancer survivors whose fertility is affected by prior chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery.

He is fellowship-trained in male fertility surgery and has experience in a variety of microsurgical procedures, including:

  • Vasectomy reversals

  • Sperm retrieval for men with low or no sperm in the ejaculate (e.g., microsurgical testicular sperm extraction [microTESE], Microepididymal Sperm Aspiration [MESA]) or who require testicular sperm for IVF due to recurrent failures and/or elevated DNA fragmentation

  • Sub-inguinal varicocele repair

As the urology lead for UCLA Health’s Oncofertility Program, he helped implement patient pathways for fertility-preservation before cancer treatment, and is frequently involved in both outpatient and inpatient cases where sperm banking is not possible, and sperm retrieval is needed.

Dr. Andino is certified by UCLA in Spanish-language medical proficiency and provides comprehensive urologic care in Spanish. He also holds a dual appointment at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Healthcare, where he established a Men’s Health Clinic within the Wilmington office, expanding access to high-quality sexual and reproductive care for patients in South Los Angeles.
