Nora C. Kim, MD

Dr. Nora C. Kim is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, including endoscopic spine surgery. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Kim earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and sociology from Dartmouth College and her medical degree from Rush Medical College. She completed her neurosurgery residency at NYU Langone Health, where she served as chief resident. She then completed a CAST-accredited spine surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. She obtained additional training in endoscopic spine surgery in the United States and abroad to refine her technique.

Dr. Kim treats a wide range of conditions of the spine, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and other deformities, and spinal tumors. Whenever possible, she uses minimally invasive approaches, including endoscopic techniques. If a condition requires a larger operation, she performs complex open and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Kim tailors each treatment plan to the patient’s diagnosis, goals, and overall health. She believes in making treatment decisions together with her patients.

Her research focuses on intraoperative neuromonitoring, which tracks spinal cord and nerve function during surgery, and on patient risk factors that affect surgical outcomes.
