Shelby Yaceczko, MS, RDN-AP, CNSC, CSSD
Shelby is a registered dietitian credentialed in nutrition support, sport nutrition and transplant nutrition and is one of the few advanced practice dietitians in California. She is finishing her Doctor of Clinical Nutrition degree with research interests in dietitian provider autonomy in advanced-level practice, gastrointestinal cancer, and complex gastrointestinal surgery conditions. Shelby previously worked in the Abdominal Transplant and Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery Division at Keck Hospital of USC, where she developed the perioperative pancreatic surgery nutrition program and various early feeding protocols in the intensive care setting. She has rejoined UCLA Health and has launched the Nutrition for Safer Surgeries Program aimed to improve patient's nutrition and functional status prior to and after gastrointestinal surgeries. Her expertise focuses on managing disorders of the pancreas, stomach, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, esophagus, and small and large bowel. She has a special interest in managing nutrition support (enteral and parenteral nutrition) given the complexities of care needed in this patient population. Shelby holds leadership roles in national nutrition organizations involved in nutrition support and gastrointestinal diseases and is a leader in a new expert-level accessory organ workgroup.
