About
Dr. Thinn Hlaing is an attending cardiologist and clinical cardiac electrophysiologist practicing at UCLA Health in San Luis Obispo. Dr. Hlaing is board certified in Cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine and holds additional certifications in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Hlaing has been previously board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Internal Medicine by American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hlaing’s clinical interests include the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease, heart rhythm disorders, advanced cardiac imaging including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Hlaing received his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine in Mandalay, Myanmar and started training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in England. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Lankenau Hospital of Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He went on to complete fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in Miami, Florida. Dr. Hlaing then completed advanced fellowship training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.
During his fellowship training, Dr. Hlaing contributed to several academic publications and research efforts related to cardiac electrophysiology and arrhythmias. Prior to joining UCLA Health, he practiced with NYU School of Medicine’s Faculty Group Practice in New York, Lee Health Heart Institute and Physicians Regional Medical Group in Naples, Florida. While at Lee Health, he was also actively involved in teaching medical students.
Dr. Hlaing grew up in Myanmar and later pursued medical training and clinical practice internationally and in the United States. He is married and has three children. Outside of medicine, he enjoys the outdoors, soccer and swimming.
Dr. Hlaing is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of Heart Rhythm Society and a member of American Society of Echocardiography.
