About

Dr. Shaposhnikov completed her undergraduate work at Yale University, earning a bachelor of science in molecular biochemistry. She obtained her medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. During that time, Dr. Shaposhnikov was one of six people selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate an outbreak of hepatitis B in Brazil. Her training in internal medicine and subsequently gastroenterology was done at LAC+USC. Her research centered on UGI bleeding, as well as molecular markers found in colon polyps. After completing fellowship, Dr. Shaposhnikov joined a multi-specialty group in the San Fernando Valley. During her tenure there, she established an esophageal lab at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center to address and evaluate esophageal disorders and to provide esophageal manometry testing.

Dr. Shaposhnikov joined UCLA in 2012 and spearheaded the opening of GI practices in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks. She is the co-director of UCLA northwest (Westlake, Thousand Oaks, and West Hills). In addition, she is a director of the newly established UCLA Surgical Center in West Hills and will also be the director of the UCLA Surgical Center in Westlake Village starting in 2023.  She practices general gastroenterology in all its aspects, with particular interests in inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer screening. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association.
