Dr. Tara Vijayan is an infectious diseases physician who practices in Westwood. Her clinical interests include general infectious diseases, HIV medicine, global health, infectious diseases in underserved populations, medical education and antimicrobial stewardship. She is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She is also an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Vijayan received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and completed her internal medicine residency and her infectious diseases fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. During her residency, she conducted research as a clinical scholar on the Global Health Pathway. After her fellowship, Dr. Vijayan earned her Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She then served as a research fellow for two years at UCSF and worked in an HIV clinic as an attending physician before joining UCLA Health.
To support her interest in HIV medicine and global health, Dr. Vijayan has provided clinical care to patients in Kenya and Haiti, and has conducted AIDS research in Kenya and Uganda. She is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
