Neurocognitive and Psychological Outcomes in Adults with Moderate-to-Complex Congenital Heart Disease (CHD)
About
The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how adults with moderate-to-complex CHD may be affected by their condition in various ways. This study aims to learn more about possible challenges experienced by those with CHD, and to see if they are different for men and women or due to other factors, compared to adults without congenital heart defects.
Eligibility
Gender: All Healthy Volunteers: Yes Minimum Age: 18 years Maximum Age: 40 years
Inclusion Criteria for Adults with CHD: -Diagnosis of moderate-to-complex CHD -Underwent surgical cardiac repair -Speaks fluent English or Spanish
Exclusion Criteria for Adults with CHD: -History of concussion or traumatic brain injury -Inability to self-report (previous stroke, cerebral palsy, or genetic syndromes with known cognitive delays) -Visual or physical impairment precluding written cognitive tasks.)
Inclusion Criteria for Healthy Volunteers: -No self-reported chronic medical conditions (i.e. diabetes, epilepsy, genetic syndromes) or self-reported psychiatric or behavioral conditions (ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar) -Speaks fluent English or Spanish.
