The Division of Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is recruiting a physician-scientist for a tenured faculty position. This individual will provide leadership in nutrition education, nutrition research and support the clinical nutrition program. The primary areas of research and clinical practice of the division are in the treatment and prevention of obesity and obesity-associated disease. This includes the role of nutrition, phytochemicals, and botanical dietary supplements in the prevention and treatment of common forms of metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
The position is state-supported with a guaranteed salary base, outstanding fringe benefits, and start-up funds for research. Applicants at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks are invited to apply. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment and research space in the Division of Clinical Nutrition at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Applicants are required to have an M.D. degree. The incumbent must be an accomplished basic or translational scientist in nutrition or a closely related field. In addition to a strong track record of federal research funding, this individual should have demonstrated success in developing multidisciplinary groups for training and research. Teaching of medical students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows will be required. Candidates with the background, stature, and skills to develop and lead an innovative and engaging nutrition curriculum thread across all 4 years of medical school are encouraged to apply.
