Kidney Transplant

The end goal for all patients with kidney disease is to get a transplant. Although there is fear around the surgical process and recovery for transplantation, it should not get in the way of patients applying to be on the waiting list, or in the way of healthy individuals from becoming living donors. The process of finding a match for kidney transplant is also more advanced. Blood incompatibility is not an issue anymore, with paired exchange. There is advanced donation and the voucher program at UCLA, as well as current research on outcomes in living kidney donation.
