They are led by some of the foremost experts in endocrinology and influence the field through regular publications in top-tier research journals.

Abel Lab
The laboratory focuses in understanding the molecular mechanisms that are responsible for cardiovascular disease in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and type 1 diabetes.

Lipidomics Core at UCLA
The core has expanded over the last several years in operation, acquiring a second instrument and is in the process of moving to a new dedicated lab space.
Metabolism Theme Space at UCLA
The UCLA Metabolism Theme is a David Geffen School of Medicine initiative that aims to facilitate campus wide interdisciplinary research in the field of metabolism involving basic, clinical and industry collaborations.
Shirihai Lab
The Shirihai lab is studying organellar biology with a focus on mitochondria, lysosomes and autophagosomes in the context of obesity and diabetes.
Tudzrova Lab
The Tudzarova lab explores the role of transient glycolysis in the proliferative cell cycle of pancreatic beta cells and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) with emphasis on the translation of the mitochondrial dynamics and cellular bioenergetics to DNA replication initiation.
Health Services Group
The Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research at UCLA has well over 200 faculty members associated with the division, including large numbers of ambulatory and hospitalist clinician-educators. The division includes three economists, a social psychologist, multiple faculty with MDs as well as PhDs.
