Endocrine Research that Moves Medicine Forward

The UCLA Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is a leading center for research, patient care, and education related to diabetes, obesity, pituitary disease, and thyroid disease, amongst a wide range endocrine diseases. Our scientists are world-renown for groundbreaking discoveries around mitochondrial function, metabolic conditions, hormones, thyroid disorders, bone metabolism, pituitary disorders and much more. From Josiah Brown’s early work on islet cell transplantation, to landmark research on serum thyroglobulin and thyroid hormone assays, to the development of testosterone measurements, our division has a long history of producing landmark studies and important break throughs that inform endocrine care. Currently, the division houses multiple labs including those belonging to the UCLA Metabolism Theme, an initiative through the David Geffen School of Medicine that facilitates interdisciplinary, cross-campus research on metabolic processes, their roles in health and disease and development of disease modifying therapies.
