Manuel Celedon, MD
Chief of Addiction Medicine
Manuel Celedon, MD, is the Chief of Addiction Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. He is a board-certified physician specializing in Emergency and Addiction Medicine and serves as a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Celedon earned his MD from UCLA and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA in 2015. He has been a faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System since 2016 and in the Department of Medicine since 2026.
Dr. Celedon has held several leadership roles at the VA, including Assistant Chief of Emergency Medicine. He currently serves as the Director of the VA Emergency Medicine Addiction Hotline (VEMAH) and Deputy Director of the Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and PDMP Center of Excellence (PMOP COE). His work in addiction medicine has been nationally recognized within VA.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Celedon has made contributions to medical education and research. He has held various teaching positions at UCLA, including as an Educator for Excellence at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Celedon has been involved in several grants focused on opioid safety and addiction medicine, serving as Co-Principal Investigator. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has contributed to textbooks and educational resources.
