Yi Lao completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California. Her Ph.D. work focused on developing mathematical and numerical tools for brain structural and diffusion MR imaging processing and applying these tools to analyze different types of brain abnormalities. After completing her Ph.D., she took her postdoctoral training in the Radiation Oncology department at Cedars Sinai medical center and UCLA. Her postdoctoral work involves a wide variety of research topics, including early cancer imaging biomarker development, quantitative tumor resectability and treatment response characterization, localized recurrence prediction, surface dose modeling, as well as automatic treatment planning. She is a cat lover. In her spare time, she enjoys interior design, cooking, journaling, and video games.
