“The Center Cannot Hold, Part 3: Beyond Recovery” continues the inspiring story of Elyn Saks and her experience with schizophrenia. The opera follows Saks on the next steps in her journey as she pursues a career as a psychoanalyst, falls in love and marries, and then bravely battles cancer.

A powerful story of resilience and recovery, the opera highlights the defining moments that shaped Saks into the renowned legal and psychiatry scholar and mental health advocate she is today.

The performance features Jamie Chamberlin, Christina Bristow, Danielle Marcelle Bond, Jon Lee Keenan, Erin Baker Pence, Steve Pence, Raymond McLeod, Jared Jones and April Amante. The performance is accompanied by a chorus and chamber orchestra conducted by Caleb Glickman. Stage direction is by Megan Cooper, with assistance from Aleta Braxton.

The opera and pre-event activities will include an optional evaluation with preperformance and postperformance surveys and a postshow discussion for adults age 18 and older.

Join us in celebrating and honoring the strength and perseverance of those living with serious mental illness.
