E-Visits

Complete a quick questionnaire to get a treatment plan for common, nonurgent health issues.

Get Care Online, No Appointment Needed

An E-Visit is a fast, convenient way to get treatment for common, nonurgent health issues — all online, on your own time. Instead of meeting face-to-face with a doctor, you’ll complete a short, secure questionnaire in your myUCLAhealth account about your symptoms. A UCLA Health provider reviews your answers and sends a diagnosis and treatment plan — often including a prescription — typically within 24 hours.

E-Visits are ideal for simple, straightforward conditions that typically require medication or self-care guidance, such as pink eye, sinus infections, urinary tract infections, cold sores or heartburn.

When to Choose an E-Visit

Not sure if an E-Visit is right for you? An E-Visit is a convenient option when you:

  • Have a mild or common health concern and want fast, online treatment
  • Don’t need a physical exam or live video visit
  • Prefer to complete your visit anytime — day or night
  • Are in California and have a myUCLAhealth account

You won’t be charged if your condition doesn’t qualify for an E-Visit. If your symptoms suggest something more serious or complex, the questionnaire will redirect you to another care option, such as a video visit, Immediate Care or in-person appointment.

How an E-Visit Works

Having an E-Visit is quick and easy. Follow these steps:

1. Log in to myUCLAhealth

Sign in to your myUCLAhealth account.

You must be an active UCLA Health patient with a myUCLAhealth account to use E-Visits. If you are a current UCLA Health patient and don’t have a myUCLAhealth account, learn how to get one here.

2. Select E-Visit from the menu

From the main menu, choose the E-Visit option. This will take you to a Terms and Conditions page. Read the information and select Continue.

3. Choose the condition that best matches your symptoms

Next, you’ll see a list of conditions currently available for E-Visit care. These are straightforward health concerns that don’t require a physical exam.

Current conditions and health needs available for E-Visits include:

  • Birth control
  • Cold sores (oral herpes)
  • COVID-19
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Hair loss (male or female pattern)
  • Heartburn
  • Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
  • Sinus problems
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)

Choose a condition and select Continue. Confirm the reason for your E-Visit by selecting Confirm and Proceed.

4. Submit your responses

Next, answer a series of questions about your personal info, health history, current medications, pharmacy preferences, allergies and symptoms.

Once you’ve completed the questionnaire, your information is securely sent to the UCLA Health E-Visit care team — a group of licensed primary care and immediate care physicians.

5. Get your treatment plan

A provider reviews your information (and your medical record, if needed) and will send a response through myUCLAhealth. This may include a diagnosis, prescription and educational materials about your condition. Most E-Visits are completed the same day, and nearly all within 24 hours.
