The Mission of the VA-UCLA Multi-campus Fellowship Program in Geriatric Medicine is to train Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physicians to become outstanding geriatrics clinicians, educators and leaders.

Fellowship Overview

The VA-UCLA Geriatric Medicine Fellowship is one of the most sought-after fellowships in geriatric medicine in the United States.

Clinical and Teaching Settings for Fellows

We offer multiple varied clinical experiences through our rotations at UCLA, at the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center, at Harbor-UCLA County Hospital and in the community. Fellows also benefit from opportunities to engage in research with members of our large and distinguished research faculty.

Fellows have the opportunity to teach multiple learners in multiple settings including

  • Medical, PMR, Psychiatry, Pharmacy residents
  • Medical, Pharmacy and NP students
  • Interdisciplinary team members
  • Peers and faculty
  • Members of the community

Clinical Training Pathways

Within our one year clinical fellowship, we offer three optional clinical training pathways for fellows with interest in:

  • Inpatient Geriatrics
  • Skilled Nursing Facility Care
  • Home-based Care

We also offer additional options for training:

  • 2-year Advanced Fellowships in Research and/or Quality Improvement
  • Geriatric Oncology Fellowship
  • Advanced degrees in collaboration with the UCLA STAR Program
