Community Donors

Do you want to donate blood and help save the lives of members of your community?

If so, you want to be what we call a replacement donor, also called a community donor. It's easy, it's safe and if you want to make a positive difference in your community, donating blood at the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center is a great way to do it.

Your donation of blood or platelets will go to a UCLA Health patient  who needs it. You are important to us because your donation helps us keep healthy levels of blood supply for our hospitals.

We're a big hospital — two hospitals actually — the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. We're home to world-renowned organ transplant programs and leading-edge hematology and oncology programs. UCLA Health is also a Level I Trauma Center, serving the needs of over four million people in western Los Angeles County. Our services and programs perform life-saving procedures every day and all those procedures require large amounts of blood products.

People like you donate blood. It saves lives. It’s as simple and important as that.

Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be a hero? When you donate blood, the answer is yes, you do have what it takes. Ask any UCLA Health patient who is alive today thanks to our donors who gave blood, and they will definitely agree that you are a hero.

Help us build a life-saving supply

The patients of UCLA's hospitals count on our blood donors to assure that blood is always there for them when they need it.
