Santa Monica 4th of July Parade

UCLA Health is one of the sponsors of the 2026 Santa Monica July 4th Parade, which is seen as one of the culminating events to celebrate UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center’s 100th anniversary.

The grand marshal of the parade is Walid “Wally” Ghurabi, DO, who has been the medical director of Nethercutt Emergency Center at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center for more than 40 years.

In addition to acting as emergency center medical director, Dr. Ghurabi also helped launch the UCLA Mobile Stroke Unit, is the supervising physician at the UCLA Rape Treatment Center and has trained generations of Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics in essential skills.
