Dear Residency Candidate,

Lovelee BrownLovelee E. Brown, MD, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Chief Resident, Department of Internal Medicine

Thank you for your interest and welcome on behalf of the Internal Medicine Resident Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee (IM REDI). Our organization is resident driven and we are dedicated to the advancement of equitable health for all patients, diversity in the physician workforce, mentorship within our community, progressing an inclusive clinical curriculum, and outreach into our greater community of Los Angeles. Our mission-oriented residents lead us to be change agents within our residency, our graduate medical education campus, as well as our health system. Every day we are inspired by the patients who learn with us, in a city that propels us to ask for more, for everyone. As voices for our communities, we articulate challenges in healthcare and are heard by a program that continuously pushes to be better.

The UCLA Internal Medicine Resident Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee is a robust group of residents and faculty leaders with subcommittees focusing on inclusive curricular innovation, medical student outreach and collaboration, community outreach, LGBTQIA representation and mentorship, as well as the recruitment of the next generation of diverse physician leaders. Our inclusive family includes historically under-represented residents (Black Latinx and Indigenous), members of our Medicine LGBTQIA community, first generation housestaff, undocumented physicians, and our indispensable allies. There is always a seat at the table with IM REDI, and we hope you consider joining us.

In solidarity,

Lovelee E. Brown, MD
