Hearing their Voice

Unhoused individuals are seldom offered the opportunity to complete advance directives and designate decision makers. During a catastrophic illness, health care providers are left to do aggressive, life-prolonging treatments that the patient may not want while seeking decision makers who may not be familiar with the patient or what their wishes would be. Hearing their Voice is a program that offers unhoused individuals the opportunity to review and complete an advance directive, as well as providing multiple other informational resources for food, shelter, healthcare and even pet care to meet the needs of the unhoused population.  Hearing their Voice developers have shared the program in multiple national and even international conferences and outreach programs, including multiple presentations for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).  Our goal is to continue, develop and expand this program to meet the needs of homeless patients throughout LA County and wherever they may be.
