“I got into the exercise world because I wanted to make people better,” says Ernest Sacco, manager of cardiac and pulmonary rehab at UCLA Health. “We have three different types of programs: we have traditional cardiac rehab, we have pulmonary rehab and we have the UCLA Ornish Lifestyle Medicine program. I think this is a great blend of what I want to do — cardiac rehab work with a program that is trying to reverse heart disease. Our plans for the new year are to try and increase the number of sessions we have so we can see more patients. I’ve seen the changes the patients make, and how good they feel afterwards. The more patients we can serve, the better we can be in helping our community.”
