Dr. Jason Hinman has been named the new director of the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer’ Disease Research and Care and the Alzheimer’s program at the UCLA Health Department of Neurology.

Prior to his appointment, Hinman served as the interim co-director of the Easton Center and co-director of the Kagan Alzheimer’s Treatment Development program. As director of the Easton Center and the Kagan Alzheimer’s Treatment Development program, Hinman will oversee a team of 33 faculty across six UCLA Departments who are working to advance early diagnosis and innovative treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

The center integrates basic science, animal modeling, biomarker discovery, diagnostic innovation, community outreach, brain health education, and clinical trials in cognitive impairment and dementia.

A nationally recognized physician-scientist whose work bridges neurology, molecular neuroscience and translational medicine, Hinman’s research has discovered blood-based biomarkers for early detection of vascular brain injury and cognitive decline; identification of neuronal vulnerability systems in vascular dementia; and development of new therapeutic targets in dementia.
