Still Hearing

“I had a cholesteatoma, which is a growth in the ear that breaks all your ear stuff,” says Kenneth Sadler, who came to UCLA Health in 1995. “I’ve had five surgeries in the last 21 years and the cholesteatoma’s gone now. I’ve had surgeries to remove the cholesteatoma, but it keeps growing back. I still have my inner ear but my eardrum and middle ear bones are gone. I still have a little hearing, so I’ m happy. I get checked out every six weeks so Dr. Rinaldo Canalis can drain my ear. He says he could go in and clear everything out, but I want to keep everything as long as I can hear. I like that he always gives me options. He cares about me. As far as the staff and doctors, we couldn’t ask for a better place. We tell everyone to come to UCLA Health.”
