Joaquin Madrenas, MD, PhD, vice dean of faculty with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, joined hundreds of advocates from around the country, on Sept. 14, for a day of action to support the National Institutes of Heath.

The advocates, participating in the 10th Annual Rally for Medical Research, called upon Congress to continue its robust, bipartisan support for biomedical research funding.

Over two days, Dr. Madrenas visited eight congressional offices, including those of top health care staff for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). He also attended a reception featuring talks by Acting NIH Director Larry Tabak and Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.).
