Student Placement

Thank you for your interest and consideration for the placement of your nursing students at UCLA Health. UCLA Health provides a full spectrum of pediatric and adult care services, including primary and advanced specialty care. 

At UCLA Health, your students will be surrounded by and collaborate with some of healthcare’s most accomplished individuals. Our colleagues help students to build confidence, network with interprofessional colleagues, receive real-time feedback, apply clinical skills, and discover their individual interests in the healthcare field. 

UCLA Health's quaternary medical centers offer unique experiences to students to be exposed to new and evolving technologies, advances in treatment and care options, processes of health care delivery, and high patient acuity.

Student Placement Process

To ensure a consistent and supportive experience for all requesting schools, the following process will guide you through making a cohort or preceptor request. The school must submit all requests for the student(s).

Step 1: Active Affiliation

All students training at UCLA Health Sciences from another entity require an active affiliation agreement.

Step 4: Submit Paperwork

After student(s) have been successfully paired/accepted, school coordinators submit required paperwork for those students. 

Step 5: Clearance

After successful submission of necessary paperwork, school coordinators will be contacted with student-specific clearance details. 

Step 6: Evaluation

Following completion of the student’s clinical experience, we require that each student complete an evaluation based on their experience with UCLA Health.

Preceptor Request and Placement Information and Schedule

**When making a request, please note if any placements extend past the three-month quarter. If a clinical/practicum time-frame is planned for 1-6 months, you will only need to submit one request. However, if a placement request is longer than 6 months, the department requires a second request submission.
