Overview

back pain

The UCLA Spine Fellow has clinical and research opportunities in all aspects of spinal disease. Clinical surgery includes anterior and posterior/lateral approaches to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral spine, and utilization of current spinal instrumentation systems and advanced technology like intraoperative navigation. Conditions treated include complex spinal disorders like primary and metastatic spinal tumors, deformity and trauma in addition to degenerative diseases.

The fellow has attending privileges at UCLA and VA facilities where he/she is exposed to a multitude of spinal pathologies. The Fellow will also work closely with the orthopaedic surgery residents and participate in weekly teaching conferences. In addition, to the orthopaedic spine faculty, the fellow will work with our PM&R physicians to learn various pain management procedures and also our neurosurgery spine faculty in order to learn various multidisciplinary approaches to the spine pathology.
