About

Dr. Charmi Shah is a board-certified family medicine physician who practices in Torrance. She sees patients of all ages and performs a broad range of family medicine services, including family planning, IUD and Nexplanon insertions and removals, joint injections, and skin biopsies. She has a particular interest in women's health, adolescent health, public health and preventive medicine.

When it comes to her practice philosophy, Dr. Shah enjoys developing long-term relationships with her patients. She believes that medicine is about more than just treating an illness, but also about treating the whole person, and considering their family and their community. "If I can ease my patients' concerns, empower them and put a smile on their face, I've done my job," she says.

Dr. Shah received both her medical degree and her Master of Public Health degree from St. George's University in Grenada. She then completed her family medicine residency at UC Davis with a concentration in global health. As part of this training, she participated medical trips to Paraguay and Tanzania. She earlier received her Bachelor of Science degree from UC San Diego, where she majored in Human Biology and Psychology.

Before Dr. Shah joined UCLA Health, she worked as a primary care physician at Stanford/University Medicine Partners in Alameda. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is fluent in Gujarati.

When she's not working, Dr. Shah enjoys exploring cities locally and abroad, dancing, art projects, board games, learning random facts, and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr Shah always take her time to listen carefully and acknowledge the individual and where they are in the present time. As a nurse myself, I can attest to her bedside matter being AWESOME!!! I definitely would follow her if she ever decided to leave UCLA. Please take care of her!!!!
