About

Dr. Christina L. Greene is a board-certified congenital heart surgeon who offers expert care for babies, kids, and teens with a wide variety of congenital cardiac conditions. As an expert in pediatric cardiac surgery, she specializes in neonatal and infant heart surgery, single ventricle palliation and biventricular repair, minimally invasive congenital repairs, heart transplant, ventricular assist devices, ECMO and blood conserving techniques.

Dr. Greene serves as Director of Cardiac Surgery at CHOC, Co-Director of the CHOC Heart Institute, and Associate Professor of Surgery at UCLA. She completed advanced congenital surgery training at Boston Children’s Hospital, following cardiothoracic surgery training at Stanford University and general surgery training at LAC-USC Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and her undergraduate degree in biology from MIT. She is board certified in surgery, cardiac surgery, and congenital cardiac surgery.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Greene is an accomplished researcher focused on improving outcomes for children with congenital heart disease. Her work explores the genetic causes of heart defects and innovative ways to make heart surgery safer and more effective. Her translational lab focuses on understanding the genetics of congenital heart disease and the key drivers to its development, while her engineering lab works to optimize cardiopulmonary bypass through mechanical engineering principles and fluid dynamics. She maintains labs on the CHOC and UCLA campuses.

Dr. Greene is a SoCal native and thrilled to return home with her family to advance congenital cardiac surgical care for the patients and families in this region.

Quote:
I love what I do. Congenital surgery, with its combination of complex physiology, demand for technical excellence and need for innovation is my calling. Despite the inherent pressure of repairing baby hearts, every day is such a gift and privilege to help patients with life threatening cardiac conditions return home to their families.
