My experience with the doctor was really not as positive as I had expected. I felt more emphasis was spent on cost aspects and how little time I had with the doctor. I felt rushed and forgot to convey many issues I wanted to bring to the doctor’s attention.

Didn’t do a breast exam, didn’t ask my about my prescription (I had to call her back to talk about it), did find out anything specific about me. It was the least thorough annual physical I’ve had and I’m mad that I wasted an appointment that’s covered by insurance.

She was a very sweet doctor, but I did not really get anything out of the visit. I was asking for references and I was just told you to research on my own. I totally understand that UCLA is a hospital in California but I was just hoping for a little bit more help. Nothing else just would?ve liked to know that in advance.

The doctor was very pleasant but seemed to be in a hurry to get in and out. I had mentioned to the nurse that I couldn’t hear out of my right ear, which was why I was in, and the doctor basically looked at me, listened to my lungs, looked in my throat and ears and then told me to go home and it should clear up in its own. As she was about to leave I asked again if she was sure it was ok, because I couldn’t hear out of my ear, and she then told me that I hadn’t told her that and she would prescribe my some steroids to help it clear up faster. All in all I got what I needed out of the appointment, but it felt rushed, I didn’t get asked very many questions by the doctor and had to advocate for myself last minute about information I had already given their nurse and they never asked me about.

I understand that the healthcare system is broken and doctors are stretched thin, but it's my one checkup where I get to actually ask questions and I was given almost no time. She just kind of rushed out, even after I tried to ask questions further. She had no concern at all for my family's background, and when I asked further about my blood pressure, she didn't take the time to explain anything at all. Just told me not to worry about it . And she was not helpful when it came to what was included in my screening. She didn't say I could call my health insurance and include an HIV screening later if I wanted, she simply shrugged. I guess I miss out on seeing if I'm healthy.
