Miriam Mivehkar attended Hamedan University of Medical Sciences in Hemedan, Iran, where she received her Bachelor's degree of Midwifery and worked as a midwife for 8 years. She then completed her Bachelor's degree in Nursing, along with a Women's Health-Nurse Practitioner Master's degree at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
Miriam continued her educational path with an additional Master's of Nurse Midwifery at UMDNJ in 2012. Miriam worked at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in the Labor and Delivery department as a midwife as well as with a private practice in Irvington, NJ. Miriam relocated to Houston, Texas and continued her passion for women’s health at The Center for Children and Women/ Texas Children's Health Plan and Baylor College of Medicine as a midwife serving women with high risk pregnancies. Miriam also devoted her passion for the birth experience by volunteering at a local Houston birthing center where home births and water births were common.
Miriam has been part of UCLA as a midwife since 2018. She loves living in beautiful Los Angeles and enjoying adventures here in sunny California.
