About
Payam Brian Bokhoor, MD, is an Integrative Medicine physician at the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine. He is also a clinical instructor and internist for the UCLA Department of Medicine. He received his undergraduate education from UCLA, and obtained his Medical Degree (MD) from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency from Cedars-Sinai after which he joined the UCLA Department of Medicine where he served as an inpatient physician and educator for two years. During this time, he was motivated toward a more holistic and integrative approach toward patient care for which he embarked on a fellowship with the Integrative UCLA East-West Medicine Center.
Dr. Bokhoor's approach to care is to seek to integrate the best of Western research driven care in conjunction with well-established complementary practices to provide a better understanding of illness, healing and wellness. He has a focus how the mind, body, diet, lifestyle, emotions, and a person's unique background all contribute to disease processes. In particular, Dr. Bokhoor focus and research is on chronic stress leading to allostatic load and how unregulated stress contributes to a wide array of illnesses.
Dr. Bokhoor's clinical interest includes nutrition, modalities to reduce and better combat stress, medical student education and community outreach. His hobbies include traveling, sports, family, and learning about different cultures.
