Rita Gordon, CNM, MSN

Rita attended Columbia University in the City of New York to earn her Master’s degree in Nurse-Midwifery in 2015. She also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing, Women’s Studies and Biology. Once graduated, she stayed in New York City to begin her career on a busy hospital midwifery service where she provided full-scope midwifery care to the incredibly vibrant and diverse population of Jamaica, Queens. She also worked at three Federally Qualified Health Centers throughout NYC before deciding to make a cross-country move to California. Rita had the opportunity expand her birth experience as an out-of-hospital midwife at birth center here in LA.

Rita is honored to practice at UCLA where she can provide access to the midwifery model of care in a hospital setting to women, families and all people who seek midwifery care. She is committed to fostering a safe environment that supports empowering birth experiences, medical autonomy and shared-decision making in all aspects of healthcare. Rita holds a deep respect for the beauty and vulnerability of pregnancy and birth and the rich history of midwives that have persevered to be with women in this context.

Rita grew up on the Florida coast and she spends as much time as possible outdoors, taking advantage of the boundless access to nature and diversity of climate that California offers.
