About

Dr. Sarah Matrisciano Gilyard is a board certified General Surgeon and Clinical Instructor with UCLA Health. She completed her undergraduate degree at UC Santa Barbara in Biopsychology, then went on to receive her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She completed five years of General Surgery residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, and thereafter she joined UCLA Health Division of General Surgery. She focuses her care on a multitude of surgical conditions. With expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, her practice includes hernia repair, gallbladder disease, appendiceal disease, large and small bowel disease, anorectal disease such as hemorrhoids, anti-reflux surgery, breast disease, and procedures for lipomas, pilonidal cysts, cysts, and other skin lesions to name a few. She speaks English and Spanish. She offers consultations and operations throughout the San Fernando Valley including Encino, Burbank, Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita, and Calabasas.

When she's not in the office or operating, Dr. Gilyard enjoys spending time with family, paddle boarding, and cooking/eating spaghetti.

"Helping patients back to health is an honor and a privilege. I see each patient as if they were my family member, striving to provide a holistic approach to their care. Surgery serves as a unique experience to help patients heal from the inside out. My father was a general surgeon, and I have had the amazing opportunity of growing up with his mentorship. Working alongside the UCLA Health team, I am excited to continue to provide evidence-based, technologically advanced, exceptional care from clinic to the hospital to the operating room."
