About

Reza Ghaffari, MD, obtained his medical degree at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Farabi Eye Hospital, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Dr. Ghaffari then completed a fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment at Farabi Eye Hospital and an international fellowship in Cornea-External Ocular Disease, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Research at Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Ghaffari’s clinical focus is cornea and external ocular disease including areas such as corneal transplantation (full thickness and lamellar), artificial cornea, keratoconus, and management of ocular surface disease. Dr. Ghaffari has contributed to more than a dozen of peer-reviewed publications in fields such as corneal imaging, outcomes of Boston keratoprosthesis implantation, and complications of cosmetic iris implants. Dr. Ghaffari’s areas of interest for research include outcomes of keratoprosthesis implantation and corneal transplantation. Dr. Ghaffari sees patients at Stein Eye Institute at Westwood location.
